Donguri Korokoro (どんぐりころころ)

Here is another song about tree nuts – the mighty acorn! The song is about an acorn that accidentally rolls into a pond, but there finds a friendly fish who invites the acorn to play. The acorn has found a new friend, but also soon begins to miss its home. I am joined by Akiko Hiroshima on lead vocals for this one, and Sumie Kaneko on koto.

Donguri korokoro donburiko
Oike ni hamatte saa taihen
Dojou ga detekite konnichiwa
Bocchan isshoni asobimashou
Donguri korokoro korokoro donburiko
Donguri korokoro donburiko
Roll, mighty acorn, roll roll roll
Oike ni hamatte saa taihen
Splash into a pond and have a little swim
Feeling all alone, ooh, someone says hello
Suddenly a whole wide world to know
Suddenly a whole wide world to grow
Feeling all alone, ooh, someone says hello
Remember there’s a whole wide world to know
You can always go back home
