This collection of songs is dedicated to the idea that everything around us is magical, while also being oh-so common. We wake up and hear a bird song; in the evening stars appear in the sky. Nothing is ordinary, yet everything is ordinary. When I embrace this feeling, I find that I notice more of the grand and the mundane. And I realize that my greatest joy is in hearing and noticing everyone and everything, and listening for all the stories, large and small.

This is my third all-ages album of music, featuring reimagined folk and children’s songs from East and Southeast Asia, and original songs inspired by the artwork of my friend Kristiana Pärn. Like all of my past albums, Nothing Is Ordinary is driven first and foremost by collaboration. I’m so inspired by the people, environment and non-human life around me. I feel lucky and grateful to have the chance to work closely with friends who also happen to be brilliant soundmakers, visual artists, thinkers, dreamers and storytellers.
