Akatombo (赤とんぼ)

This is one of the first songs I chose for this album. The title Akatombo means “red dragonfly,” and the song speaks about memories of a past time. Dan Zanes’ scruffy voice and acoustic guitar seemed like the right way to approach the soulful melody and emotional lyrics. Domenica Fossati plays flutes, Tareq Abboushi is on the Arabic buzuk (plucked stringed instrument), and Masayo plays koto (Japanese harp).
